Configuring Encrypted Download Links with Expiration

Within the setup for your subscription form, you can enable an “Encrypt Download Link” option. It basically provides additional security to the downloadable product by highly encrypting the link that’s forwarded to the subscribers. This encryption will prevent the sharing of the link and also checks whether it is accessed from the same IP address used while subscribing.

Upon turning on the “Encrypt Download Link” option, more settings will appear, including “Link Expire.” Activating “Link Expire” will then give the setting for how long before it expires; thus, there is an added layer of security.

Upon turning on “Link Expire”, two more fields will then appear: “Expiry Time” and “Link Expire Message.” The “Expiry Time” field sets the length of time, in minutes, that the download link is going to be valid. When this period elapses, the link will expire and access will thus be denied. The “Link Expire Message” field allows you to craft a custom message shown to users who access an expired link, providing clear communication as to what next steps must be taken.

Here is an example of an effective link expired message:

"We're sorry, but the download link you attempted to access has expired. If you need to download the file again, please return to our website and complete the subscription process once more. If you believe this is an error, or if you need further assistance, please contact our support team at support@example.com."

By configuring these settings, you can effectively manage access to your downloadable content, ensuring it is only available for a limited time and to the intended recipients.
